It's my favorite time of the year.

Time to look back, make lists, and have everyone judge your awful taste in music.

What were, in your opinion, the best albums of 2011?

I'm seeing a good few people put Adele's 21. Bon Iver is also a fairly common answer.

The Wombats - This Modern Glitch. I love every song on that album and i was waiting for it for 4 years. They changed it up from their last album, but still had a similar enough style that made me love them. Not to everyone's taste, but definitely my favourite. Adele will sweep up at the Awards ceremonies though.

I don't really listen to any music from 2011 or any current year at that time in particular. I've discovered some music during 2011, but mostly not new stuff.

Lowkey's Soundtrack to the Struggle came out in 2011

Only 1 I can find right now.

My favorite album of the year was definitely Within and Without by an awesome new band called Washed Out.
Their music is so atmospheric and penetrating. I really hope these guys start getting more recognition.

Here's my favorite song from the album in case anyone's interested in learning more about them.

Bon Iver's second album is a close second.

Best album of 2011 = Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters? I didn't even know they were making a new album and they brought that out. It's by far the best album they've ever made.

However, I feel that Limp Bizkit's album Gold Cobra was the best album of 2011, personally, but I know I'd just get abuse thrown at me if I said that.

Spin released their best album list.

Some band called "*****ed Up" is at the top. PJ Harvey is no. 2.

Just read this post. I haven't listened to The Wombats' new record, but I'm definitely gonna do it today!!
Let's Dance To Joy Division was my jam years ago.

And yes, Adele will slay at the grammys, rightfully so imo. Her impact on the global music scene was exactly what the world needed to restore some balance after the over-the-top, pop meets electronic, Gaga explosion.

Simple Math by Manchester Orchestra.

Every track is written, performed, and produced amazingly. They deserve so much media acclaim that they don't get.

Funny you say that. Adele doesn't want to be seen as Gaga's rival, which the British press keep trying to push her as.

But I <3 Adele.

...and Gaga.

Adele isn't Gaga's rival. Adele smashes Gaga into pieces.

I wasn't trying to put them as rivals. I never thought of them that way to be honest with you.
When Gaga became huge worldwide pop music became edgier, more electronic, more clubby, urban, etc. And Adele had the same impact but with the opposite reaction. There are a lot of artists now trying to go back to a more intimate, raw vibe, much thanks to Adele's influence. She proved an artist can achieve massive success with mostly heartfelt ballads. And I think that was an important change 'cause it ends up giving pop more variety, and more of a balance, which I'm all for!

Don't tell her little monsters that.
Monsters? They have a monstrous taste in music if you ask me. Lady Gaga is terrible.
The blonde girl with the black lips turned to Valkyrie.
"We know," she said. "We've seen the future. We know you're going to kill the world..."

My Kind of Party by Jason Aldean

The problem with me being able to judge this is that I haven't heard most of the albums entirety of the songs that I like so I need to do that before actually compromising a list. I think Billboards already got one done for the Years End I think
